Overview

Bloom is a visual schedule and feelings board app designed for children with communication needs. Your privacy, and your child's privacy, is important to us. This policy explains what data the app handles and how.

Data Storage

All data you enter (children's names, profile photos, schedules, feelings entries) is stored on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. If you are signed into iCloud, this data is also stored in your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit service, so your schedules and profiles sync automatically across your devices.

iCloud sync uses Apple's private database, which means only you can access your data. Apple encrypts data in transit and at rest. We do not operate user data servers and have no access to your iCloud data.

AI Image Generation

Bloom offers an optional AI image generation feature that creates custom visual schedule images. When you use this feature:

• The text description you type (e.g. "dentist appointment") is sent to our server, which forwards it to OpenAI's DALL-E image generation service.
• Only the text description is sent. No child names, profile data, feelings entries, or other personal information is transmitted.
• The generated image is returned to your device and stored locally.
• We do not store your descriptions or generated images on our servers.

Data Collection

Bloom does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data with us or any third party beyond what is described above. Specifically:

• No analytics or tracking
• No advertising
• No email addresses collected
• No usage data sent to external services
• No third-party SDKs (other than Apple frameworks and RevenueCat for subscription management)

Text-to-Speech

Bloom uses Apple's built-in text-to-speech engine (AVSpeechSynthesizer) to read schedules and feelings aloud. All speech synthesis happens entirely on your device. No audio or text is sent to any server for this feature.

Children's Privacy

The app stores children's first names, optional profile photos, communication preferences, visual schedules, and feelings log entries as entered by a parent or guardian. This information is stored on your device and, if iCloud is enabled, synced to your personal iCloud account. It is never transmitted to us or any third party.

In-App Purchases

Subscriptions and purchases are managed through RevenueCat and processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store any payment information.

Data Deletion

You can delete individual profiles and all associated data through the app's profile editor. Deleting the app removes all locally stored data. If iCloud sync is active, data also exists in your iCloud account and can be managed through iCloud settings on your device.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised.
